Dear God, you there? It's me, Texas.
While people say to me all
day long, “Where is your God? “These things I remember as I pour out my soul: Why, my
soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in
God, for I will yet praise him my Savior and my
God.-Psalm 42
As I sit here listening and staring at the rain. I can’t
help but remember those frightful nights from Hurricane Ike. It is sort of a PTSD;
I have from hearing lightening and thundering. I sleep with one eye open to
make sure no water is coming in. Every gush of wind I hear, praying that it
will not bring down any tree in my house again. The flashbacks I get from
seeing my walls torn down and narrowing escaping the celling coming down on me
because I wanted to save every little thing I could. But I
hear that voice, that is so quick to calm me down. Child, do not be afraid. I am
with you.
It gets me to think how many people are wondering: Where is
God? Where is this God that you say even the winds and waves obey him? I think
your God has deserted us.
My answer is unequivocal. Let me tell you exactly where God
is at this precise moment and every moment when tragedy hits. He is in the
midst of us. He is in every person that is praying for Texas. He is in the police
officers, the firefighters every rescuer that is risking their life to save
others. He is in the people who are opening shelters. He is in the people that
are opening homes. He is in your heart. He showed us best where he is when he
died on the cross for our sins, that he may have hope for this life and
eternity in him?
With everything going on in the world around us we must
stick together; we must love one another. Looking at social media and all the
pictures I have seen, it moves me. Everyone helping each other out. Our
willingness to help is not determine by our skin color, who or what we worship
but the love we have in our hearts and that is exactly where God is. I can’t donate
thousands and millions of dollars like I wish I could, but I could donate my
time and materialistic things but what I can best give is a prayer. A prayer of
hope, of love and a sound mind.
I leave you with this…..
Lord, help us to hear you say “I am your hope” over all
else. Remind us that hope is an
unbreakable spiritual lifeline. May the frightened cease to be afraid. May we
open our hearts to you and realize your will, will be done. Help us to put our
hope in you. You are our strength and comfort and will never leave us. Thank
You for sending relief to those in need and continue to be with those still are
in need. Your love and mercy endures forever. Let us be the hands and feet that
you need us to be. All of this I ask in your son’s precious name. -Amen
Please, let me know how you are doing and how I can pray for you.
